Men do lose unwanted weight faster than women. One physiological reason is that men release more stress hormones such as norepinephrine in response to exercise than women do.

Hormones such as norepinephrine stimulate lipolysis, which is the breakdown of fat in cells. This occurs via enzymes called lipases that enable the release of fat from cells. Studies have shown that the amount of lipase that people have in their cells can determine their capacity to metabolize and lose body fat. And you guessed it; men generally have much higher levels of lipases.

However, ladies should not despair. Studies have shown that supplementation with the green tea extract EGCG and yohimbine enhances lipolysis – particularly in women.
