Low-carb’ diets have one big flaw; they do not promote the intake of natural fiber-rich foods. That’s why low-carb diets can lead to constipation. Fiber is the indigestible part of plant foods that passes through the digestive tract and provides bulk to the diet. Without fiber, waste products are not removed from the body (or they are moved too slowly). One long-term undesirable effect of this is bowel cancer.
