Bodybuilding is a sport that relies heavily upon your ability to be as close to perfection as possible with every facet involved. As arduous as this pursuit can be, the rewards and benefits from doing so are plentiful and keep us wanting more.

With each and every accomplishment you experience and achieve, the greater your expectations become, and with that, a whole new set of goals to conquer. In order to ensure that you maintain a level of determination that will allow you to succeed with all of your bodybuilding endeavors, the following strategies will allow you to strive for excellence with each day not only in your training but in life as well.

Set Clear and Achievable Goals

When you know what you are working towards, the path becomes clearer and easier to follow. Nothing worth attaining comes easy, it’s just that you will have a better understanding of what needs to be accomplished along the way as you forge ahead towards checking off all that needs to be done.

This process begins with setting clear and achievable goals for yourself. Start off small by establishing goals that you know are relatively easy to attain. Then set bigger goals that you want to attain further down the line once you’ve learned more about the process.

Having smaller goals that you can achieve handily will only serve to further motivate your actions and that compounding effect will push you to even greater heights with the goals you set next.

Consistency is Everything

Consistency! This cannot be stressed enough and it will be the highest contributing factor to your entire journey to excellence with all that you do.

Day in and day out you have to be dedicated to completing all of the necessary tasks and making all the right decisions that you will face along the way. Then wake up the next day and repeat the exact same process once you find the formula that works. Don’t make the mistake of changing things when what you’re doing is working. Resist the temptation to change something out of boredom or just because you feel a need for a change. The old adage of “if it’s not broke, don’t fix it” carries with it a ton of truth, and doing the things that contributed to your excellence in the first place should always have a place within your plan moving forward.

Excellence Breeds More Excellence

If you want to be the greatest at what you do, you need to have exemplars in your life that you can refer to when need be. That means finding examples of the types of feats you are aiming to achieve yourself, studying what made them great, asking questions, doing your homework, and researching what steps are involved. Work in collaboration with other like-minded individuals and realize that you may not know everything but are willing to learn. When you are comfortable with all of that, find excellence, and use it to support your goals.

Excellence isn’t an easy level to attain and it will look different for everyone. What matters most is that you find your own level of excellence and work hard every day to get closer to it. The fact of the matter is that you will never truly be satisfied with what you do end up accomplishing because you will always want as you reach your goals. What is important is that you enjoy the ride and take time along the way to appreciate all that you have done and those who have helped get you there. If you can do that, then your excellence becomes the driving force behind what you end up striving for next.
